The sun sinks lower on Sundown Street You’re tired and alone And the cold sinks deeper into your weary feet, But the lights are on at home

If you go to Sundown, dear Don’t bother to bring wine The grapes there just ripen off the vine And if you go to Sundown, dear Be careful with that crowd They’ll break your heart like bread and pass it ‘round But don’t get discouraged Don’t lose faith Your friends are here to keep your head in place Don’t get discouraged Just move your feet on over And come hang out on Sundown Street Kayleigh is a streetside poet bedsheet sloganeer And she’s gonna have a breakout year You ask her ‘bout her romance, she says “You can’t hurry love. Diana Ross said that, and that’s enough.” So, don’t get discouraged Don’t lose hope If you start to drown, we’ll come out in a boat Don’t get discouraged Just move your feet on over And come hang out on Sundown Street This afternoon, we’ll spread white linen Facing to the sky We’re gonna make these ancient houses fly So take your bikes to Wayne and go buy out the grocery store And we can live like this forever more So, don’t get discouraged When you've got love If you’re lonely, dear, Then come in for a hug Don’t get discouraged Just move your feet on over And come hang out on Sundown Street

The Cheapies 03:01
The television tells us that out in the O.C. There’s bombshells and boys and babes in bikinis And you can go out anytime you like And you can get a tan Out here in Ohio, we’re freezing off our asses Getting drunk on the weekends and going to classes Shoveling snow and keeping warm the best that we can. And the trees at the prom looked like plastic palm trees I’d like two tickets to the two dollar matinee, please. Oh, they always say You’ll understand when you’re older Let’s go raise a little hell In the next county over Jonah Hill called. He wants you to buy him beer He says he’s got, like, sixty bucks in twenties if that’ll cover it And Michael Cera wants some vodka for his lady friend And I was visited in visions by the ghost of Kurt Cobain His head looked all right, But his shotgun looked pretty maimed And he said, “Bury me before they dig it all up again.” And the band sounded just like it did on the radio The band sounded just like it did on the radio Oh, they always say You’ll understand when you’re older Let’s go raise a little sand In the next county over On Sunday I heard that one story about the sower So I walked out into my garden, and I was forced to admit That too much of myself still lies barren in the Promised Land. And in the cemetery They say the King and Queen of the Gypsies are buried And there’s a rock on a hill with a view of the city In the spring, we can sit until dark While I hold your hand.

I was down in Tyler Texas I met this southern belle A Dixie peach named Suzie She had that rebel yell Everything was perfect Then out the corner of my eye I saw my little Suzie Dancin' with another guy I found that little trickster I grabbed him by the coat I took him on out back And I cut him in the throat He fell down to his knees And I knew just what I done I got no place for hidin' I got no place to run I went down to the river Put my feet in the sand I bent down low and I washed my hands I wiped away All the blood from my skin But my hands were still dirty I couldn’t wash away my sins *I killed Sally’s lover one dark and dreary day Sally got another and I got locked away I killed Sally’s lover one dark and dreary day so now I am a fugitive and I’m always on the run Sally told the police man exactly what I done

Spare Key 02:29
I've thought it through, and isn't it clear Beer is cheap, and friendship is dear So come over I want you over The kitchen smells like baking bread I’m locked out inside of my head Come over I want you over You call me out, yeah, you call me out Yeah, you call me out, yeah, you call me out I see the window light on, I see the light We’ll put the ghosts away tonight Little one, most dearest to me Will you take my own spare key And come over I need you over Can’t you see the places I've been? It’s raining out, so let me in I’ll come over I will come over You call me out, yeah, you call me out Yeah, you call me out, yeah, you call me out I see the light come on, yeah I see the light We’ll put the ghosts away tonight We’ll put the ghosts away tonight.

Walk Me Home 03:02
Walk me home, walk me home Walk me home, walk me home, walk me home Let the morning sun rise first And see me in my bed Walk me home, walk me home, walk me home Don’t say I was clutching Mr. Boston Don’t say I forgot the things I’ve learned I knew it was a bad idea, but they were offering And as you know, the taste of danger burns Walk me home, walk me home Walk me home, walk me home, walk me home Let the morning sun rise first And see me in my bed Walk me home, walk me home, walk me home Don’t tell Anita about all the kissing Don’t let her know what happened on the roof And if that girl took pictures, I will steal her camera Erase the memory, and erase all proof It’s three o’clock and time to drop the curtain Act three: a poor, gone drunk exits right And when tomorrow comes I will stand up and face these sins Until then, I will say goodnight. Walk me home, walk me home Walk me home, walk me home, walk me home Let the morning sun rise first And see me in my bed Walk me home, walk me home, walk me home

Had our days in the sun Had the head of the parade Had it good when we were young Shining gold, bold, and brave When he swam in the sky It felt very much like bliss Everyone wonders why And how he came back like this Driving through ticker tape Driving 25 down State Avenue Everyone knew his name Everyone loved Luckey Haskins Had a pin pushed in your town Had a map up in my place Tied myself up with yarn You disappeared without a trace Driving through ticker tape Driving 25 down State Avenue Everyone knew his name Everyone loved Luckey Haskins He came back to his old house He came back through his front door Then his poor mother saw What is was he come back for

about

The Jaywalkers Dayton, Ohio

The Jaywalkers were born from the creative ferment of the University of Dayton music scene of the mid ‘00s. We started out playing activities board concerts, house parties etc. and got our baptism of fire in a battle of the bands where we had the honor of squaring off against Kelly Fine and other greats of the UD music scene eventually opening for Guster at the UD Arena.

The chicks are great too.
