The college coeds are forming in a line On the Brown Street sidewalk at a quarter to nine The girls in halter tops, the boys in collared shirts Cologne and perfume They've put on the works To the man behind the bar, it’s a beautiful sight It’s the Thursday Special at Tim’s tonight They’re gonna dance all night long They’re gonna sing all night long They’re gonna drink all night long And hook up all night long If it’s the Thursday Special, you know you can’t go wrong. See Carrie Ann dancing on the floor? I don’t want to just talk, honey I want more I want to get with her, ‘cause she looks so fine But she’s a smart whip who plays the boys every time Many a man who’s tried to get her off on her own Has walked a long, dark walk home alone She’s gonna dance all night long She’s gonna sing all night long She’s gonna drink all night long And hook up all night long If it’s the Thursday Special, she knows she can’t go wrong. See the boys walk into the bathroom with Stan Who’s got a bottle to wipe off the X’s on their hands Isopropyl first and ethanol last They started out sober, but they’re gonna get trashed Oh, lay off the bottle, kid, it’s getting late The sun’s a-gonna rise and she ain’t gonna wait And maybe you thought this night was gonna last But tomorrow we’ve got to get up for an eight o’clock class And maybe next week you can come back for more But until then I’ll show you too the door And you danced all night long And you sang all night long And you drank all night long And hooked up all night long If it’s the Thursday Special, you know you can’t go wrong And if you play rock n’ roll, you know you can’t go wrong.

Cracked Cups 02:56
And she said, “Cracked cups are who we are, I know it,” As she poured me black coffee into an old broke mug. “There’s no telling all the times we’ve blown it, And we all carry the scars of broken love.” Out there in the street, somebody is shouting Out there in the world, someone is alone We tried to take you on an outing We knocked all day at the door But there was nobody home. Sometimes I think I should go on out to my driveway, Plug in my guitar, and turn it up real loud Play something to break this lonely silence And the curbs and the driveways Would echo with the sound And she said, “Cracked cups are who we are, I know it, But the ones like that are much more interesting. You wouldn’t be who you are without ‘em, And I sure wouldn’t have you any other way.”

Someday 03:03
Someday, we’ll be on honeymoon somewhere Just playing volleyball and shooting the breeze on the beach And on that day we just won’t care anymore About what we had back then that was just out of reach We’ll drag out old fears and we’ll pay off the goons, Show off the stale old memories of wounds, And you’ll laugh and say, “Gee, Oh, I’ve come to settle the score.” Someday, strolling on the bluffs high above We’ll look down on the amusing scene below: It’s all of us down there fighting on the sand Lovers, betrayals, and ego and undertow Of your hopes back then, will you just tell me this As you feast your eyes, cast your gaze from the cliffs And – Woah! You never really wanted that anyway. And I asked you, “When did I leave you?” And you said, “Somehow, somewhere back there.” And I said “What did I do?” And you: “Whatever is was, I hope it was true.” ‘Cause all we are are bottles, baby Floating on the tide. Someday, we’ll be on honeymoon somewhere Just playing volleyball and shooting the breeze on the beach And on that day we just won’t care anymore About what we had back then that was just out of reach

Basement 02:51
She’s got them real hug ‘em hips And those lips Like a tabby cat walking And sweet honey drips From the tips Of her hair when she’s talking She can have it all except her boy She’s the rabbit we’re chasing, But she’s chasing her own joy The clock ticks away and Kills the day Here in Forman’s basement And I must have missed it But I don’t know what that look on your face meant Tonight’s gonna be all that and more We’ll just keep playing until somebody scores Down in the city Where the soft red light turns on She turns to thank you when the song is through, Then she’s gone It was 3:05 in heaven about She walked through the door And the red light went out

I’m going up into the Newport hills To meet you in the park But when I got there, baby, All I heard Was you laughing in the dark And some say you gotta cling hard and fast To a good thing gone astray But when I heard about what you did I knew our love had gone its way. I’m going downtown to pal around And dance ‘till Thursday’s through And maybe you’ll come Or just stick out your tongue, baby Like you always do And some think you gotta scramble all day long To fix a leak that’s coming in But baby, I think that this ship is sinking And it’s time to take a swim.

All Tied Up 03:08
I’ve been all tied up Working until Friday afternoon And I’ve had enough Honey, I can’t see you too soon. The hour hand is crawling up to three Let’s go out somewhere, honey – Only you and me ‘Cause I’ve been all tied up, waiting. I’ve been up all night Staring out the window at the crowds And you’re off tonight Doing the things you do so well I’ve been thinking of the meaning of your smile And the questions you ask When you put me on trial ‘Cause I’ve been up all night, thinking. Up in the black sky, the moon’s turning blue Why must we fight over calling the tune? The Marcels are on the radio Speaking to you I’ve been all tied up, sleeping ‘Till the sun comes in and smiles And honey, I’ll own up I’ve been thinking about you for a while This morning, I will walk the streets alone Fumbling for your number dialed deep into my phone And I know it’s kind of forward, honey, But please make me all your own. ‘Cause I’ve been all tied up, waiting I’ve been up all night, thinking I’ve been all tied up, waiting.

about

The Jaywalkers Dayton, Ohio

The Jaywalkers were born from the creative ferment of the University of Dayton music scene of the mid ‘00s. We started out playing activities board concerts, house parties etc. and got our baptism of fire in a battle of the bands where we had the honor of squaring off against Kelly Fine and other greats of the UD music scene eventually opening for Guster at the UD Arena.

The chicks are great too.
