Love Gone South

from The Lights Are On at Home by The Jaywalkers

/

lyrics

I was down in Tyler Texas
I met this southern belle
A Dixie peach named Suzie
She had that rebel yell
Everything was perfect
Then out the corner of my eye
I saw my little Suzie
Dancin' with another guy

I found that little trickster
I grabbed him by the coat
I took him on out back
And I cut him in the throat
He fell down to his knees
And I knew just what I done
I got no place for hidin'
I got no place to run

I went down to the river
Put my feet in the sand
I bent down low and
I washed my hands
I wiped away
All the blood from my skin
But my hands were still dirty
I couldn’t wash away my sins

*I killed Sally’s lover
one dark and dreary day
Sally got another and
I got locked away
I killed Sally’s lover
one dark and dreary day
so now I am a fugitive
and I’m always on the run
Sally told the police man
exactly what I done

about

The Jaywalkers Dayton, Ohio

The Jaywalkers were born from the creative ferment of the University of Dayton music scene of the mid ‘00s. We started out playing activities board concerts, house parties etc. and got our baptism of fire in a battle of the bands where we had the honor of squaring off against Kelly Fine and other greats of the UD music scene eventually opening for Guster at the UD Arena.

The chicks are great too.
